Project Description

A bathroom that isn’t just a backdrop. It’s history, grown over almost two centuries. Here, in the “Alberthof” dating back to 1842, you can still smell the wood’s life. The beams bear the marks of hands long gone – hand-hewn, cracked, venerable. And yet, they blend effortlessly into the new “old”: clay plaster, naturally warm, breathable. No plastic, no artificial sheen – just earth, wood, and dignity.

Anyone entering this room senses: the atmosphere is different. The air is calm, the humidity balanced, as if the wall itself were breathing. The clay retains the steam from the bath, filters it, and releases it again when the air clears. Nothing artificially regulated, nothing that hums or flashes – just the delicate work of nature, guided by human hands.

The bathroom isn’t conceived as a contrast to the old structure, but as a continuation of its story. The materials are simple, as unpretentious and honest as the farm itself. Clay, wood, stone – they all speak the same language. And suddenly, this bathroom is more than just a functional space. It’s a sanctuary for the senses, a place to breathe, see, and feel what is authentic.

A space that demonstrates that sustainability isn’t a trend. It’s a way of life.
